Artist Statement
The interests that inform my work include psychology, time, mythology, nature, and a lifelong curiosity about how people connect—both with one another and with the living world around them. I’m drawn to the small, easily overlooked details that mark our days. Growing up in Colorado and now living in California, my sense of place is shaped by contrasting landscapes and travel—experiences that tilt my perspective toward playfulness and wonder. I’m also drawn to the quiet majesty of nature and the simple, profound fact of its existence. While my work often considers social interactions—and because we can never fully know another mind—I frequently depict these ideas without literal figures, using creatures, symbols, and pattern as stand-ins for inner states, alongside self-portraiture.
I work across two- and three-dimensional media, mixing traditional fine art—ceramics and painting—with illustration and design, plus candle-making. I’m interested in creating environments where viewers have a physical relationship to objects, pairing functional, tactile pieces with works on paper and canvas. Across materials, my aim is consistent: to highlight the small wonders tucked into ordinary moments and to offer an experience that invites people to pause, smile, and reflect—and, ideally, to carry a bit of curiosity and joy back into their everyday lives.
